WASHINGTON,D.C.

Our nation’s capital is where my television career began after graduating from The American University in Washington, D.C. My first job was with C-SPAN, then CNN, followed by Biz-Net, where I shot and edited news and public-interest programs. A few years later, I became a Producer for the Washington Redskins and then the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I also produced and directed over 100 corporate videos, including the award-winning Coast to Coast Resorts video, The Happiness Connection.

NEW YORK

I moved to New York to pursue new opportunities in production. My technical expertise helped me secure a job building studios and post-production suites, a fantastic sales opportunity I truly enjoyed. Within a few years, I could buy my own apartment. That was when I chose sales and business development as a career path, and I’ve never looked back.

HOLLYWOOD

After several successful years leading sales in New York, I was promoted to V.P. of Sales for the entire company. After attending a meeting at Avid Technology's Burbank offices, I saw the future of editing, and it was digital. I wanted to learn more and later persuaded the owner of BCS to become the first premier reseller. The transition from analogue A/B roll editing to Desktop Nonlinear was a huge money-maker, generating millions of dollars for resellers, rental companies, and accessory providers. Demand for RAID storage, reference monitors, and faster computers fueled the industry with new buyers.

LAS VEGAS

I was at the height of my sales career in Los Angeles when I decided to leave LA for Las Vegas. At that time, I was working at Moviola, selling nonlinear editing systems and closing deals faster than I could calculate the commissions I was earning. I was generating millions of dollars each month from recurring clients such as CBS, Universal Studios, Fox Latin America, Nickelodeon, and Univision. Morgan Cashman, the owner of Cashman Photo, offered to partner with me to create a new business that provides photo and video services to many of Las Vegas's best hotels for weddings and special events.

Morgan had been exclusively providing photographic novelty services for 25 years and was one of the town’s movers and shakers. His photographic empire included showroom photos at four-star venues like Sigfried and Roy, Celine Dion, MGM’s Grand Garden arena, and most of the Cirque du Soleil shows. Cashman Photo also sold restaurant photos, amusement ride photos, green-screen photos, and 3D photos in glass crystals, and his company operated retail stores that sold cameras, film, and photo prints. He even dabbled in food with a cute little store named Yummies that sold pastries and coffee. Mr. C was a client of mine, and I had been selling him video equipment after he was chosen to provide photo and video services to the Flamingo hotel. I trained a bunch of his video guys on the equipment they purchased and got to know the company. The more I engaged with his staff, the more I saw a void in leadership. There was little to no infrastructure to support even the limited business they were doing at the time, and lots of complaints from customers.
